In
Romania our community development education
project “NGO’s Interventions in Local High
School’s’’, has been working with 9 high
school’s from across the Olt County.
80 High school teachers and 200 young people
have so far benefited from the programme
which has involved delivering a range of
community development workshops and managing
a small grants programme to initiate local
community development actions. From the 9
high schools we have been working with 6
have now set up Community Clubs for their
students to join which will enable the
community action programmes to continue in
future years. We are working with these new
clubs to equip them with the relevant
knowledge and skills to be able to continue
their work.
In December we hosted a special gala to
celebrate the achievements of this project.
60 people attended and awards were given
for; the best project, best project team,
most involved young person and most involved
teacher. A special prize was also awarded
for
school of the year, this was presented to;
Collegul National Matei Basarab, Caracal.
For
2009 we hope to continue our work with these
schools in order to firmly establish
community development education as part of
the school’s curriculum.
This project was part funded by the CEE
Trust.
