Each year, along with many other charities
internationally, we support World AIDS Day
(December 1st). Our volunteers go out onto
the streets, into school and institutions to
distribute red ribbons and leaflets to make
people aware of the campaign.
We also work with other charities that care
for children affected by HIV/AIDS. In the UK
we have supported children from families
affected by HIV/AIDS by providing short
respite breaks. In Romania we have provided
space in our Community Resource Centre for a
group of HIV positive children to come and
mix with other non-affected children. We
have made crisis grant payments when a child
has died to help support the child’s family
in paying for the funeral and other
arrangements. Our volunteers also work with
HIV positive children (some of which are
only very small babies) at a specialist
centre, helping to bring a little sunshine
into their lives overcast with the shadow of
HIV. |
